Adria Trentzsch, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Adria is a board certified nurse practitioner who has always had a passion for skincare and helping others. For as long as she can remember she has had an interest in cosmetics and dermatology. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2006 and worked as an RN for 6 years before obtaining her Master’s degree and NP certification in 2012. She has had a wide variety of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner including urgent care, family practice, pulmonary medicine, acute care hospitalist, cardiac surgery and cardiology. As much as she has enjoyed these past clinical experiences, she feels beyond grateful to be pursuing her passion and combining her medical and nursing expertise with her interest in aesthetics.
Cosmetic procedures can be emotional moments and she wants to meet her patient’s vulnerability with empathy and consistently succeed at cultivating lasting relationships, building trust and managing expectations. Her priority is to make sure her patient’s desires are understood, offer up necessary education and provide the safest treatment options to optimize desired outcomes. Part of her inspiration comes from her own journey and experience with how aging, childbirth and a busy lifestyle can impact self-image and confidence. She is a strong advocate for investing in yourself.

What Are Neuromodulators?
A neuromodulator like botulinum toxin, more commonly known as Botox, is a purified protein that blocks messages that travel from a nerve to a muscle. By blocking this message it helps relax the muscle and keep it from contracting. For cosmetic purposes we use a very small dose to keep muscles in the face from contracting and causing wrinkles in the skin. Modifying doses and strategic placement of the medication is used to still maintain natural appearing movement of facial muscles. As we age, the facial muscles have a tendency to stay contracted causing us to appear mad, sad, worried or tired. When you make an expression, such as smiling or frowning, the muscles contract to create the expression. Neuromodulators are used to stop the muscle from contracting thus decreasing the lines that come with making an expression.
It is important and understand that there are 2 types of lines, dynamic lines and static lines. Dynamic lines appear when you make an expression but when the expression stops, the lines disappear. This usually occurs in younger patients. However, as we age these lines become static, meaning the lines may remain visible even after the expression has stopped. It is important to understand that botulinum toxin is used to treat dynamic lines, those that come and go with expression. People who have static lines may see improvement with repeat treatments, however, this can’t be guaranteed. Botulinum toxin works for about 3-4 months, so you will need regular treatment to maintain the effect.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Neuromodulators are most commonly used for wrinkles on the forehead and for frown lines between the eyebrows. They also work great for the little wrinkles on the nose (bunny lines), smile lines near the eyes (crow’s feet), and to slightly lift the brows. There are additional specialty areas that can be treated including lip lines, pebble chin, downturned corners of the mouth (Marionette lines), or the jawline for grinding or clenching.
By regulating the dose and strategically placing the neuromodulator, a refreshed look can be created while still retaining natural expression.
What Can I Expect?
During your consultation, the areas you want addressed will be discussed and we will determine the number of units needed to achieve the desired effect. The number of units needed to treat a given area will depend on several factors, including the strength of your muscles, the number of areas treated, and other considerations. The injections are quick and done with a very tiny needle so there is minimal to no discomfort. The effects begin to appear in a few days and typically last several months. When administered routinely over time, you can actually reverse the signs of aging and improve the appearance of facial wrinkles.
